Our November Leadership Kenosha session was packed with learning, reflection, and meaningful community engagement. The day began with a thought-provoking workshop led by Marvin Bembry on leading through crisis during our November session. Marvin is the author of the book Leadership Kenosha is reading this year, Burn Bright, Not Out, and he guided participants through a framework for strengthening resilience, emotional intelligence, and sustainable leadership. Our participants are now more equipped to lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose.
The session continued with an in-depth exploration of human services in Kenosha County, featuring local professionals and Leadership Kenosha alumni who work directly within this sector. Carolynn Friesch, April Guenther, Michelle Sandberg, and Ron Tatum shared their firsthand perspectives on community needs, barriers to access, and the collaborative work happening across agencies. They offered recommendations for ways participants can advocate and engage in hands-on support within Kenosha’s human services ecosystem.
We closed the day with a tour of the Shalom Center, led by LK alum Lorroli Henderson. From emergency shelter and food programs to supportive services that help families regain stability, participants gained a deeper understanding of how essential this organization is to Kenosha. The visit provided a firsthand look at the scope of the organization’s work and the critical role it plays in supporting Kenosha families.
