Leadership Kenosha — March 2026

LK_Mar26

Leadership Kenosha’s March retreat was held at the Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA), where we began the day with a guided tour led by Executive Director, Atifa Robinson. KELA serves youth from middle school through young adulthood, providing academic support through hands-on learning, innovation, career exploration, mentorship, and more. It was inspiring to see the many ways the academy empowers young people and prepares them for future success.

We also had the opportunity to hear from KUSD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Weiss, who spoke candidly about the challenges currently facing the school district—from funding concerns to ensuring student and staff safety. His perspective highlighted the complexity of leading a school district while continuing to prioritize student success.

Kevin Meagher and Brandon Morris from Building Our Future joined us as well, sharing how their organization collaborates with schools, businesses, nonprofits, families, and community leaders to drive data-informed results that support long-term success for students in our community.

Later in the day, H. Muir from LiftShop guided us through a discussion of our top five StrengthsFinder themes. We reflected on the four P’s —Pitch, Platform, Power, and Purpose—and how these concepts help us better understand our leadership style and the impact we can have in our community.

Of course, no Leadership Kenosha retreat would be complete without some dedicated project time. With group presentations and graduation quickly approaching, our teams spent time collaborating and preparing for the final stretch.
